Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist

 

 

Location: Birmingham, AL

 

Description:

Alabama Psychiatry announces an immediate opening for a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist for adult (19+) and geriatric populations within an outpatient or hospital setting. The applicant must be willing to travel up to thirty miles around Birmingham to hospital and outpatient sites, including Princeton Baptist Medical Center and Shelby Baptist Medical Center. The contract type is Part-Time to Full-Time, with flexible hours possible. If full-time work is desired, Alabama Psychiatry offers great benefits, including PTO and 401-K. The applicant must be flexible, a great team player, and ready to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists and therapists. The applicant must be able to quickly and efficiently complete brief psychological reports with assessment findings, diagnoses, and recommendations for patients and referrers. We also have a strong interest in an individual who can provide treatment recommendations to psychiatrists and therapists to assist with diagnoses, treatment planning, and placement within outpatient or hospital settings. In addition, the preferred applicant will have a background in hospital and outpatient settings and have specialized experience and training in mood disorder treatment in a hospital setting. The applicant will mostly work independently, once the referral question is given. Referrals will generally be from Psychiatrists, other Medical Doctors, and Neurologists. There is also potential for supervision of a psychometrist and/or psychology students, as well as growth within the company. In addition, there is potential for development of a successful outpatient therapy and assessment practice in the Birmingham area, in addition to the possibility of hospital work. Alabama Psychiatry is looking to hire someone in this Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist role to become a central part of our clinical team for the foreseeable future.

 

Our Practice:

Alabama Psychiatry (formerly River Region Psychiatry Associates) is a large, multi-site private practice with outpatient offices in Montgomery, Pelham, Auburn, Alabaster, Gadsden, and Sylacauga, AL and Bowling Green, KY, as well as inpatient services in several hospitals in the Birmingham, AL area. Our staff currently includes Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Therapists, and Administrative Staff. Alabama Psychiatry is again expanding and looking to add to our psychology team with the addition of more psychologists.

 

Employee Compensation:

Compensation includes competitive salary, regular daytime hours, full benefits (including health insurance, 401k, 23 annual PTO days, 8 paid holidays, and continuing education hours), testing supplies, and possible relocation assistance for a preferred candidate.

 

Minimum requirements:

All applicants must have completed an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program and a one-year APA or CPA accredited internship in clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology. Clinical neuropsychologist applicants must also have completed a two-year post-doctoral program focusing in clinical neuropsychology. If the applicant is currently completing their post-doctoral program, they must be in good standing with their post-doctoral clinical director/supervisor, who will provide one of the three letters of reference. Clinical psychologist applicants must have knowledge of established psychological testing practices, including testing of attention, mood, personality, cognitive, behavioral, and executive functioning. Clinical neuropsychologist applicants must have knowledge of established neuropsychological testing practices, including testing of memory, attention, language, cognitive, motor, behavioral, and executive functioning. The clinical neuropsychology applicant must also have experience with dementia, TBI, and geriatric populations. All applicants must be licensed or license-eligible in AL, licensed in AL by starting date, and in good standing with the Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology or any state Boards within previous states of practice. Clinical neuropsychologist applicants must also be certified by ABCN and in good standing, or eligible for certification by ABCN.

 

Preferred:

Preferred applicant characteristics include a full-time employee who will work in both outpatient and inpatient settings, experience in hospital and outpatient settings, experience working with multidisciplinary teams, knowledge and experience with mood disorder treatment and assessment, experience and knowledge of assessments of capacity for independent living, and experience with personality and symptom validity testing (MMPI-2, MMPI-2-RF, PAI, TOMM, WMT).
